TAKE A VACATION.                                                   I want you to leave the office. Call in sick. Do not go to work Monday. Take a couple days, even if all you do is sit on the couch and watch E!                           If your boss asks for a doctor's note, stop by the drug store and pick up a copy of Men's Health magazine. You know, the one that can be embarrassing to read because the shirtless guys on the cover sweat so profusely you feel like you'll get wet simply turning the pages.                           See, Men's Health recently graded 100 metro areas and evaluated which were the "most workaholic." The ranking was based on statistics for overtime, high blood pressure, commute times, stress levels and unused vacation days.                              christian Tiffany Jewellery Store           And you know what they found? Surprise. People in Hampton Roads have too much work-related stress.                            Well, great. Thanks. It doesn't exactly scream fun.                           The survey said the people of Hampton Roads need a vacation just a little bit more than people from Madison, Wis. and a little bit less than people in Wichita, Kan.                            According to the study, people in Manchester, N.H. (their grade was an F), need a vacation the most. This makes perfect sense to me. If a bunch of presidential candidates were constantly telling me they'd make America better, I'd want a vacation, too. I'd go to a place where they don't even hold primary elections.                           On the other hand, the people in Milwaukee? They don't need a break. People in Toledo? Coping with work pretty well, thank you very much. Folks in Corpus Christi, Texas? They'll see you Monday. Never mind, make that Tuesday. Each of those cities earned As.                           But Hampton Roads earned a D  and ranked toward the bottom. Only 29 regions have worse workaholics than us.                                              Heck, even people in Richmond and Washington, D.C., are relaxing more than we are. Both areas got Cs. And they're supposed to be solving some of the country's biggest problems.                           On one hand, I'm grateful for this news. Having a job, having the opportunity to work overtime (as long as it's optional and paid at time and a half) are good things.                            Sure, work causes stress. But not having a job is a lot more stressful.                           Besides, I like what the ranking says about us: that we're hard- working, that we're worried about productivity.                           Our area's big problems, the magazine said, are the length of drivers' commutes and stress levels. It's only natural that the first problem leads to the second.                           But this thing about not taking vacation days? That's a national, not a local problem. And it's unforgivable. Breguet Replica Watch                           According to a survey by Harris Interactive and expedia.com, the average American lets three vacation days a year go unused, an egregious offense.                           Maybe because we live so close to beaches, or even the Historic Triangle, we figure that in a way we're always on vacation, that there's no need to go to someone else's beach or someone else's historical re-enactments.                           That's ridiculous. This very serious men's magazine has said we're workaholics and we need a couple of days off.                           No problem. I think we can squeeze a couple of days in around 2009.                           Mike Gruss, (757) 446-2277,
